Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois became the second player in the history of world football who managed to win La Liga as part of two Madrid giants at once – Real Madrid and Atletico.
Hitherto, the only football player to whom this achievement could be credited was striker Jose Luis Perez-Paya in the 1953/54 season.
The 28-year-old Belgian first became the champion of Spain in the 2013/14 campaign in his Atletico T-shirt, before moving to Chelsea.
Now, Real Madrid became the champion of Spain of the 2019/20 season ahead of schedule. So, Courtois won the league for a second time, thanks to the victory over Villarreal as part of the 37th round of the Spanish La Liga.
