Daley Blind faces a winter departure from Ajax. The 32-year-old defender has set his sights on a transfer. The defender’s request to leave on a free transfer has been honored by the club management.
Blind still has a contract until the summer, but can look for a new employer free of charge because of services rendered to the club. It is known that the Belgian FC Antwerp, where Marc Overmars is the technical director, would like to see the 99-time Orange international come.
Blind returned to Ajax in the summer of 2018 after playing for Manchester United for four seasons. In total, the born Amsterdammer came to 333 official matches for Ajax. He won the national title seven times, the KNVB Cup twice and the Johan Cruijff Shield twice.
Daley Blind has responded via Twitter to the news that he may leave Ajax. The 32-year-old defender can leave the Amsterdam club on a free transfer. Blind finds it ‘unfortunate but typical’ that the news reaches the media within a day.
Blind still has a contract until the summer, but is allowed to look for a new employer free of charge due to services rendered to the club, it was announced on Wednesday. The international of Orange is not only disappointed that the news leaked out so quickly. “It’s also a misrepresentation of things,” he added on Twitter.

Ajax’s search for a keeper
Ajax is orienting itself in several positions on the transfer market, where the goalkeeper position has also been discussed. The Amsterdammers have their eye on Andries Noppert. The 28-year-old goalkeeper of SC Heerenveen, who broke through at the World Cup as the first goalkeeper of the Dutch national team, still has a contract in Friesland until mid-2024.
With Remko Pasveer (39) and Maarten Stekelenburg (40), Ajax has two experienced goalkeepers with an expiring contract, while Jay Gorter (22) is still waiting for his breakthrough, and may go elsewhere on a loan basis in the coming six months.
