Eric Cantona, the Manchester United legend recently appeared in an interview. He discussed the financial situation his former club, Manchester United are in.
Cantona revealed that he offered his services to take up a role behind the scenes in the club. However, he was rejected by Woodward.
Eric Cantona said, “I had multiple meetings with Woodward, but they turned down my offer to lead football. I suggested to the club last year that they alter their procedures. United ought to have a chairman, a chairman for marketing, and then a chairman for football. I then made them the offer to lead football. I believe they should have someone for football whether it’s me or someone else. It ought to be a club member.
“They opposed me becoming president. I wasn’t wanted by them. The supporters must be aware that I travelled to Manchester to offer them the chance to succeed in the coming decades, but they rejected it. I promised myself that I would put everything else on hold and give this my full attention for the next five years. I feel better about me now. Nobody can claim that I didn’t make any effort to aid United. They are unwilling.”
