Exodus hit PSV and Ruud van Nistelrooij will soon have an offensive option. In recent weeks, the PSV trainer first saw Cody Gakpo and then Noni Madueke leave, but may now soon welcome a new striker at De Herdgang. Fábio Silva will sign with PSV, the Portuguese will be rented from Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season.
Silva was bought by Wolves in 2020 for the sum of forty million euros. In the Premier League, the youngster could not live up to expectations: in 56 games he scored just four goals. At the beginning of this season, the English rented him out to Anderlecht, which was running very poorly. He started well there, but in Brussels he gradually lost his credit. This transfer is therefore a solution for all parties.
With Silva, PSV now has a full replacement in case Luuk de Jong is injured again. In the first half of the season, the team from Eindhoven had a hard time replacing their attack leader when he was out due to a calf injury. PSV still has ten days to continue roaming the market in search of reinforcements on both front flanks.
PSV 1-0 Vitesse
Silva is an attentive spectator in Eindhoven tonight for the match between PSV and Vitesse. The club would have liked to rent him for more than half a season. Renting for longer turned out to be impossible due to the regulations.
However, the Eindhoven club was immediately struck again. For Luuk de Jong, the duel with Vitesse ended after less than half an hour on Saturday. After an unfortunate collision, the PSV striker had to be replaced with a head injury.
De Jong came into contact with the head of Melle Meulensteen at an Arnhem corner. Where the defender of Vitesse was able to continue after treatment, that was the end of the game for the PSV striker. Johan Bakayoko came in for him.
It was not De Jong’s evening anyway. The striker was allowed to moor from eleven meters in the 24th minute. However, the penalty kick was not taken well, which gave Vitesse goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen the opportunity to prevent the PSV goal.
