Fastest goals in football history: All meticulous preparations and opponent analyzes have to be thrown overboard when you concede a goal after a few seconds. Some strikers don’t even move out of the kick-off circle. Here are the five arguably fastest goals in football history.
Fred – 3.17s
Brazilian Fred has had a respectable career. Among other things, he became famous for scoring a goal after 3.17 seconds. He was playing in the America de Minas Gerais junior team against Vila Nova when he decided to surprise the goalkeeper and score the fastest goal in the history of Brazilian football.
Carlos Almeida – 3 sec
Carlos Almeida, a player for Portugal’s fifth division club FC Oliveira do Hospital, added his own scorer just moments after kick-off. The ball went into the net in the third second of the game, when many spectators weren’t even seated. For the Arganil players, the early goal came as a shock from which they never recovered. They lost the game 3-0.
Ricardo Olivera – 2.8 sec
Argentina’s Ricardo Olivera was in the Guinness Book of Records for some time for scoring after just 2.8 seconds. Olivera scored for Rio Negro Capital against Soriano Interior in a lower Uruguayan league. He held the record for six years, but as always in football: at some point someone who is even faster will come along.
Marc Burrows – 2.56s
The game between England teams Cowes Sports and Eastleigh is written in the history books. It took Coves player Marc Burrows just 2.56 seconds to score. Despite having help from a strong wind, he caught the keeper flat-footed. The weather forecast indicated wind speeds of 70 km/h, but the English Football Association confirmed the record.
Vuk Bakic – 2.2s
In the game between the juniors of FK Polet and Dorcol in Serbia, 2.2 seconds was enough for the first goal. Instead of pushing the ball from the kick-off spot to his team-mate as usual. Vuk Bakic fired with all his might at Dorcol’s goal. The ball landed in the net after flying about 50 yards as the Dorcols goalkeeper stood on the edge of the box. He tried in vain to reach the ball with a sprint.
