Christian Eriksen took part in his first training session since his on-pitch heart-attack while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020. For the first time his collapse in Euros’ Finland-Denmark in football news, Eriksen trained alone at his former club Odense.
Christian Eriksen’s plight shook the football world in June, as he was playing against Finland with Denmark in Euro 2020.
The 29-year-old had a brush with death after suddenly fainting during a game televised live around the world. His on-pitch cardiac arrest then led to hospitalization and he had to fit a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implant in.
Football News – Eriksen Trained Alone at His Former Club Odense
Denmark’s Christian Eriksen participated in his first training since his cardiac arrest during the Euros, Danish media reported on Thursday.
Because Serie A aren’t letting him represent Inter due to a defibrillator implant, he may move to Ajax (football transfers).
Eriksen remains under contract with Inter Milan. But, because he has been fitted with a pacemaker, is not permitted to play in Serie A.
So, instead of waiting for the Italian top-flight’s approval, he trained with his boyhood club Odense Boldklub (OB) on Thursday.
“We are happy he asked us if he could train with us here at Adalen,” Odense coach Michael Hemmingsen told Danish media, referring to Eriksen and the club’s training ground.
A spokesman for OB has also shared to Reuters about the 29-year-old’s presence back again in his homeland.
“Eriksen reached out to us, and he is now training by himself,” the source said. “It’s natural for him since he played here in his youth and lives around the corner. We are very happy to be able to provide training facilities for him.”
Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots also commented: “Like any person having experienced what Christian has, he is working on his recovery. He likes to do this in his own environment in Milano or when he is in Denmark, privately, in his country of birth.
“Occasionally, when he is some time in Denmark and when he feels like it, he may use the structure of Odense BK. Which is a great gesture of his former club.
“Chris has a positive, optimistic and energetic character, but it is not yet the moment to talk about football. Only Christian will decide if and when this moment will come.”
