Monza 1-1 AS Roma: José Mourinho was once again quite at odds with the referee on Wednesday evening. The Portuguese was not tender in his words after losing points against Monza.
Mourinho lashes out at the referee: “I didn’t even want to look at him”
“The worst referee I’ve come across in my career,” Mourinho called referee Daniele Chiffi at DAZN, who gave the Portuguese coach a yellow card in the 35th minute and Zeki Çelik a second yellow shortly before the end. “Believe me, I’ve dealt with a lot of bad referees. Usually, when I talk about umpires, it’s because they have a direct influence on the game. In this case I don’t think that’s true. But he’s terrible, he doesn’t make a human connection with anyone, he has no empathy, he gives a red card to a player who slips because he’s exhausted in the 96th minute.”
Mourinho also attacked Roma’s management by claiming that other clubs are avoiding having Chiffi as a referee. “There are clubs that say they don’t want this referee and Roma either don’t have these abilities or the DNA or something else. It’s terrible. With the few players I have in my squad, I couldn’t get a red card,” he added.

“I really wanted to say something, but I couldn’t afford to be without my boys. That’s why I left the field early, I didn’t even want to look at him. I stopped twenty to thirty minutes before the end because I knew he would give me a red card for everything,” Jose concluded.
