Midfielder Pedri has commended Ronald Koeman for giving a number of young players a chance during his time at Barcelona. After the head coach’s dismissal yesterday by Barcelona made for heartbreaking football news, Pedri will be eternally grateful to Koeman.
Barcelona confirmed Koeman’s departure on Wednesday, shortly after a 1-0 loss to Rayo Vallecano in a La Liga fixture.
This disappointing, unprecedented loss dropped the Catalan club to ninth place in the Spanish league after ten games. And it meant the end of the Dutchman’s reign as the manager of Barcelona.
Thus, Ronald Koeman only lasted 14 months in the post after replacing Quique Setien in August 2020. And he won only 58.21% of his 67 games in charge.
Last season, though, during the 2020-21 campaign under his charge, Koeman had better success in introducing young players.
He brought young stars such as Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, Oscar Mingueza, and Pedri into the first squad. This initiave of his is thus responsible for these young talents breaking through into their very first senior squad experience.
Then, as Barca’s financial problems slowly became known to everyone, Koeman made even more use of the academy this season.
We were happy to see him offering chances to Alejandro Balde, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, and Yusuf Demir.
And Pedri, a brilliant young player, has hailed former Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman for helping his breakthrough at Camp Nou.
Indeed, the 18-year-old says, about his now-departing Barcelona coach, that he “will always be grateful” for Koeman.
Football News – Pedri Will Be Eternally Grateful to Koeman

“I wish you the best both personally and professionally.”
