In a lengthy conversation with Het Parool, Frank de Boer addressed the challenges facing the trainer profession. For the time being, the former Ajax and national team coach does not see himself returning, mostly due to the stress it requires.
When asked if he misses life as a trainer, De Boer responded to the Amsterdam tabloid, “It doesn’t itch for a second.” Professional football should not anticipate his return for the time being. However, he continued, “I’m certain that if you put me on the field with some football players right now, I’ll be excited after three minutes.”
With all the responsibilities off the field that came with the job, De Boer struggled. He revealed, “As a manager, you are really only preoccupied with filling people’s glasses who perceive them to be half-empty. Parents occasionally add to the pressure, as do player agents. All of those unimportant details use up bad energy.” The worst part, according to Frank, is that you pay the least attention to the good guests as a result.
Frank de Boer does mentions Ten Hag’s challenges
De Boer says, “They do their additional effort after the training, and they are there if you need them. He was connected to Erik ten Hag in that way. He mostly had to respond to inquiries regarding the rogue Cristiano Ronaldo after the top match against Tottenham Hotspur was won. I made an attempt to become Ten Hag. How annoying that is.”
De Boer acknowledges that he is aware of what might have happened to him. “I used to toss and turn frequently when I woke up at five. How will I approach this? Sleeping little and thinking a lot. A trainer is hurt by that. Not by accident do they all turn grey so soon. The hostility that permeates the industry was what troubled me the most,” he said.
