Juventus head coach Andrea Pirlo has spoken out ahead of the Serie A match against Bologna. ‘I did my job 100%’, Pirlo has said when answering whether he’s done enough this season to avoid termination.
“The players have their energy back, because victories give them an adrenaline boost,” said the Italian specialist at the press conference, before facing Bologna.
“We were buried after the defeat against AC Milan, but we’re back on our feet,” he added.
“First of all, we have to concentrate on ourselves, try to perform well and get the win we need, and then we will see what others have. The most important thing is that we play our football and have no regrets,” he continued, speaking on the team spirit he’s aiming for.
With rumors of a sacking following Pirlo all season, and amplified ten-fold now, the Juventus coach said:
“I don’t think the club will decide my future on the basis of this match. I think they will assess the whole season and then decide. It’s up to them, we’ll see.”
“I’ve always walked with my head held high. I have the feeling that I did my job 100%,” Pirlo said with confidence. “I have always been honest with everyone.”
However, he did humbly admit: “I am not happy with our results because we have not achieved our goals, but the rapport with the guys has been the most enjoyable part of the season. They showed a real spirit of sacrifice.”
“I was a winning player and I want to be a winning coach, so I see this season as an opportunity to get better and develop,” he finished on an optimistic note.
