In an extensive interview Ibrahim Sangaré has discussed his future, among other things. The 25-year-old midfielder still has a contract with PSV until mid-2027, but it is no secret that he has the desire to play in the Premier League one day.
Sangaré about his future: “That clause gives everyone clarity”
“After the season I want to go on holiday first and then I will think about my future. Now everything is focused on the cup final. Of course it is nice to play in the Premier League or perhaps another major competition, but it is now about PSV and performing here. When making a choice, it is important that I can make progress. I especially want a good perspective on playing time, if I were to leave PSV. You only keep developing yourself if you play,” says Sangaré.
The 37.5 million euros release clause
“My agent doesn’t tell me much about clubs that are interested at the moment, because I want to focus mainly on PSV. I’ll see what proposals there are later after the season. After the end of the competition, I decide what I’m going to do,” says Sangaré, who has a clause in his contract that allows him to be collected for 37.5 million euros, provided that this happens before a certain date. The holding midfielder adds, “I think that clause provides clarity for everyone. Both for me and the club. If it were to be the selling price sometime in the future, I think everyone would be very happy.”
“I am glad that I chose the Dutch competition”
In that case, Sangaré would yield more than four times as much as the amount that PSV paid to Toulouse in 2020. The Ivory Coast international concluded, “I am glad that I chose the Dutch competition three years ago. I’ve become a much better player here and I’m having a lot of fun at PSV. Physically, playing with the head and tactically. We also have a team where competitors are simply top colleagues. Like Érick Gutiérrez, he’s a very good person. Of course everyone wants to play, but I really think so.”
