Internazionale’s main shirt sponsor is in such dire straits that the Italian club has not yet received a cent of this season’s sponsorship money. This is evident from figures that Inter itself published on Tuesday. The shirt sponsor, crypto company DigitalBits, is struggling financially.
Inter previously signed a deal with DigitalBits until the summer of 2025, but the collaboration seems to be coming to an end in the short term. As early as November it appeared that the company had overdue payments at the Milan club, which, according to Italian media, was looking for an alternative main sponsor.
Now the club’s figures show that DigitalBits, Internazionale’s main shirt sponsor has not yet transferred anything. The company should have transferred eight million euros in June, October and February, plus a bonus of just over one million. The amounts are still not on Inter’s account. “We understand that it is a crisis in the cryptocurrency industry,” the club reports.
In order not to get into trouble itself, Inter has received a loan of ten million euros from major shareholder Suning Group in China. That amount was paid on February 22. The money comes from asset management company Oaktree Capital Management, which would have already lent three hundred million to Suning.
