James Rodríguez will sign a contract with Boca Juniors, that is claimed in Argentina. The midfielder has been without a club since his departure from Olympiacos and will commit to Boca for the next three years.
James Rodríguez is about to sign with new club
The Argentinian journalist Javier Hernández Bonnet assured the Argentinian medium Blu Radio that the Colombian can be seen in La Bombonera next season. However, the club will not take over James itself, but a special construction should lead him to Argentina. A group of businessmen join forces to get him, but also take over part of the rights.
In addition to Boca Juniors, Botafogo is also said to be interested in the midfielder and he has been linked with a return to La Liga. James signed a contract with Olympiakos last summer, but after seven months both parties decided to part ways. Just before that, his contract with the Qatari Al-Rayyan had also been torn up.
James was once a Golden Boot winner at the 2014 World Cup and left AS Monaco for Real Madrid for an amount of 75 million euros. In the absolute top, the now 31-year-old Colombian has never been able to fully live up to it. He played for Bayern Munich and Everton, among others. In addition, he already has a past in Argentina with Banfield.
Benzema explains choice: “Always wanted to play in a Muslim country”
For another former Real star, Karim Benzema, his transfer to Al-Ittihad is a dream come true. The 35-year-old striker always wanted to play in a Muslim country.
Benzema has left Real Madrid on a free transfer for Al-Ittihad’s mega offer. The Frenchman is naturally happy with that. ‘Because I’m a Muslim and this is a Muslim country, I’ve always wanted to live here. It is different from Europe. I have often gone to Saudi Arabia and I always felt good about it,” says Benzema during his presentation.
“It’s important for me to be in a Muslim country because I feel like the people are like me. I can’t wait to live there. It is important for me to speak Arabic fluently. This is where I am most in my element,” he continues.
Benzema is looking forward to the clashes with Cristiano Ronaldo, his old teammate who plays at Al-Nassr. “Ronaldo is a friend of mine. It’s good to meet him here in Saudi Arabia. It shows that the country wants to raise the level. There are more big names playing here, so it is important to show that Saudi Arabia can impress internationally. I hope to be able to take the country to a higher level,” he concludes.
