Wout Faes, a defender for Leicester, is determined to succeed Toby Alderweireld on the Belgian national team.
Faes is waiting for a potential confrontation with Ibrahimovic as he pursues Alderweireld’s legacy.
Faes, a defender for Leicester City who has only ever appeared in one international match for Belgium, appears to be one of the leading contenders to replace the departed Alderweireld. After 127 international games, Alderweireld just announced his retirement from the national team. Sebastiaan Bornauw of VfL Wolfsburg and Zeno Debast of Anderlecht appear to be Faes’ major rivals.
The former mercenary from Heerenveen and Excelsior declared during a press conference prior to the European Championship qualifying match with Sweden, “I’m going to give myself entirely. There is still a position available,” he continues. “Especially now that Toby has announced his retirement. I’m really prepared to seize this chance.”
“I don’t have to beat about the bush because Domenico Tedesco now has a new national coach at the helm, which is a benefit for me. It’s up to me to take that chance on the practise field now that a new wind is blowing,” according to Faes, who travelled to Qatar with the Belgium World Cup team but did not play. “For the competitive beast in me, it was upsetting. I always play in a club setting, too.”
The defender, who was twice briefly assigned to Anderlecht in the Eredivisie, said that he had a well-planned out career path: “I was always certain that I would play; that was what was most important to me while I was making those decisions. And you are immediately prepared for the following stage after two seasons. I also took well to the transition from Ligue 1 to the Premier League. It is only currently defending itself from relegation.
Red Devils selection angered: “Lack of respect”
Domenico Tedesco astonished everyone with his initial selection as Belgium’s national coach. It would describe the management’s attitude at RC Genk.
The team for the commencement of the European Championship qualifying match against Sweden on March 24 has relatively little representation from the Belgian league. The only players who also compete in the Pro League are Zeno Debast and Jan Vertonghen (both from Anderlecht).
“It goes without saying that it is advantageous to compete against top players. Every week in a competitive competition like the Premier League,” according to Tedesco.
The justification will not be accepted by Genk, the top city in Belgium that Tedesco entirely ignored. The first tweet response was telling: “Bullshit.” Dimitri De Condé, technical director, finds it incomprehensible that playwrights Bryan Heynen and Mike Trésor, among others, have gone unnoticed.
