Raphael Varane will remain on the sidelines for ‘a few weeks’ after suffering a groin injury, according to Manchester United. So, Manchester United have confirmed the extent of Varane’s groin injury which he has sustained while on international duty.
Varane had to leave the pitch for a replacement soon before halftime in France’s 2-1 victory over Spain (football news). This was the second-ever Nations League final on Sunday, which the world champions won, though at the cost of Varane.
After thus quitting France’s side mid-game, Varane’s absence incited in Old Trafford a fear that he may miss United’s match.
They saw him as a doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Leicester City this weekend. But now, he appears certain to miss more games.
After all, the club revealed that he will be out for a number of weeks.
Manchester United Have Confirmed the Extent of Varane’s Groin Injury
United went into the international break with just one win in their previous four games.
Their lone success came against Villarreal in the final minutes of stoppage time.
As a result of this weak phase, the Red Devils have slipped to the fourth position in the Premier League table.
Although, they are still only two points behind current league leaders Chelsea.
On top of this demotion, Varane has now joined Harry Maguire, another United centre-back, on injury watch, the treatment table.
Club captain Harry Maguire suffered a calf injury in a 1-0 loss at home to Aston Villa in September. And now he too, like Varane, is doubtful for Sunday’s match against Leicester.
