There is plenty happening during Manchester United’s summer sales 2023 in the transfer field. Manager Erik ten Hag wants to make his mark on the selection and that means that there is no place for some players. Eric Bailly and Alex Telles are allowed to leave for that reason, reports The Manchester Evening News.
Ten Hag puts two defenders on the transfer list
Both Bailly and Telles were loaned out by United last season. Bailly played at Olympique Marseille, which had to exercise the option to buy for a set number of matches. However, the defender came to 23 duels, so that condition did not apply. The 29-year-old Bailly has not played a game for The Red Devils for over a year and a half.
Telles had become superfluous after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia and the presence of Luke Shaw. Sevilla hired him for a season and despite the weak season in his own country, the Spanish club won the Europa League. Thirty-year-old Telles played 38 games. Like Bailly, he has another year at United.
Because they are not in Ten Hag’s plans and can walk out the door next year on a free transfer, United now wants to sell Bailly and Telles. They are not the only players whose future at Old Trafford is uncertain. The local newspaper also mentions the names of Dean Henderson, Harry Maguire, Fred, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial and youth players Hannibal Mejbri and Anthony Elanga.
United receives good news from Lisandro Martínez
Lisandro Martínez can immediately accelerate at the start of the preparation for his second season at Manchester United. The defender says that he is 100 percent fit again. After he had to miss the last weeks of last season due to injuries.
Martínez was injured in the Europa League match against Sevilla. The Argentinian landed wrong and suffered a fracture in the metatarsal bone of his right foot. Martínez therefore missed the second meeting with Sevilla. The last nine league games and the final phase in the FA Cup tournament. United lost the cup final to Manchester City.
Manchester United will start preparing for a new season in the first week of July and Martínez is ready for it, he says on social media. Martínez (25) made the switch from Ajax to Manchester United last year and played 45 games in his first season in England, 27 of which were in the Premier League.
