Marco Asensio continues his career at Paris Saint-Germain. The 27-year-old attacker was in possession of an expiring contract with Real Madrid and will transfer to the club from the French capital on a free transfer. Asensio has signed a three-year contract.
PSG continues: Luis Enrique gets old acquaintances at his disposal
In Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Asensio played 285 games for Real Madrid in eight seasons. With De Koninklijke, the left leg won seventeen prizes, including the Champions League three times. Last season, the Spanish international played in 31 league games for Real Madrid, scoring nine times and providing six assists.
Asensio made the switch from Real Mallorca to Real Madrid in 2015, but made his final breakthrough a year later as a mercenary in Espanyol’s shirt. Despite his respectable number of appearances in Real Madrid’s pristine white, the technician has never been an undisputed starter at the Bernabéu. Earlier, Asensio was also linked to a switch to Aston Villa.
For PSG, Asensio is the second reinforcement of the day. Earlier, Milan Skriniar also signed a contract in the French capital. The Slovak defender signed for five years. At PSG, Asensio will again have to deal with Luis Enrique, who still knows the attacker from his time as national coach of the Spanish team.
Dolberg completes transfer to Belgium
In other Ligue 1 news, Anderlecht has confirmed the arrival of Kasper Dolberg. The Belgian team takes over the Dane from OGC Nice, which rented him out to Hoffenheim last year.
According to Belgian sources, Anderlecht will pay four and a half million euros for Dolberg. That’s a pittance of what Nice once paid for him. The French club took over him from Ajax in the summer of 2019 for more than twenty million euros. Dolberg signs a contract for four seasons with Anderlecht and will play with number 12.
In total, Dolberg scored 24 goals in 85 games for Nice. Last season he scored two goals in fourteen appearances in German service. “I am very happy with this new challenge,” Dolberg tells the club channels. “It was not a difficult choice to go to such a big club as Anderlecht. I have known Anderlecht for a long time and I immediately felt that I could fit well with the project and the style of play. Anyway, I wanted to go to a club where I felt comfortable and where I felt there was something to gain. That’s why I’m here.”
“We are extremely satisfied with the arrival of Dolberg,” says technical director Jesper Fredberg. “Kasper has already shown what his qualities are at his previous clubs and at the Danish national team. We want to work with him to unlock his full potential, because we are convinced that he has everything to succeed here. Kasper is incredibly hungry and ambitious.”
