Martin Paterson, the former Burnley man and Northern Ireland international has joined Barnsley’s coaching staff. The club announced: “The 35-year-old links up with our Head Coach Michael Duff once again after tasting promotion to the Premier League together as players at Burnley Football Club in 2008.
“Paterson joins the Reds from Inter Miami. Where he most recently spent time as First Team assistant coach. Working under Phil Neville and David Beckham.
“Welcome to Oakwell, Martin Paterson!”

“Martin has a great knowledge of the English game and provides great energy to the players, and also set piece knowledge.

Martin Paterson said: “Delighted to be here.
“I know this club very well, having played against Barnsley many times in my playing career.
“It’s great to team up with Michael Duff again. As soon as I got the call to join him. To come to such a good club like this, there was no hesitation. I just want to assist the gaffer, to support him. And hopefully together we can all get this club back to where it ought to be.”
