Following allegations from several Italian media outlets, Arsenal confirmed that Pablo Marí was stabbed in an incident that occurred in a supermarket in a Milan suburb. The Monza defender, who is now on loan from Arsenal, was taken to the hospital and is awake. The alleged victim of the incident was a cashier.
The incident happened about 6:30 o’clock. on Thursday at a store in Assago, the bordering city of Milan. Initial indications indicate that five persons have been stabbed. Their torsos have all been stabbed. An Italian man, 46, has been detained as a suspect. He is accused of stabbing nearby strangers.
Adriano Galliani, the general director of Monza, and Raffaele Palladino, a trainer, are reportedly helping Mari in the hospital. The 29-year-old Spanish player played 31 games in the Eredivisie while on loan from Manchester City to NAC Breda during the 2017–18 season. Since 2020, he has been bound to Arsenal under a contract.
Pablo Marí is not in imminent danger
Marí is not in imminent danger, according to Galliani, as reported in the Italian media. His wounds are not potentially fatal. We anticipate seeing him shortly,” he stated.
Arsenal stated, “The horrific news of the stabbing in Italy, which has left many people hospitalised, including our centre-back on loan Pablo Mari, has horrified us all.
“We have spoken to Pablo’s agent, who has informed us that the actor is hospitalised but not gravely harmed.
“Pablo and the other victims of this terrible act are in our thoughts.”
AC Monza in a statement said, “Pablo, You and your family are surrounded by us here, and we love you. Keep fighting as you know how; you are a fighter, and you will recover quickly.
“Mister Palladino, Adriano Galliani, the group, and everyone of AC Monza.”
His former club NAC Breda also wished him best, “NAC sends its best wishes to Marí and notes that it is thinking of the other victims as well.”
