Hoping the veteran will want to finish his career where it all began, Parma are apparently scouting for Gianluigi Buffon. Parma want to re-sign Gigi Buffon, who has just recently left Juventus but not to retire from playing entirely.
The former Crociati youth player, now 43, is leaving Juventus, 20 years, two decades, after moving from Parma to Turin.
However, he did spend one season at Paris Saint-Germain in 2018-19 before returning back to the Allianz Stadium.
Since then, he has spent these last two years playing Wojciech Szczesny’s backup as Juventus goalkeeper.
Gigi Back at Parma?
Buffon has earlier told GQ that he would only play for Juventus and Parma in Italy.
Now, Sky Sport Italia reports that the latter is now attempting to persuade him, one of the best goalkeepers, back.
Parma want to re-sign Gigi Buffon, hoping that his return would help the team recover quickly.
Relegation was the fate of Parma in Serie A this season, and they’ve hired Enzo Maresca as their next head coach.
Now, Maresca and Buffon were Bianconeri colleagues. So, the Ducali are hoping that Maresca can persuade the World Cup winner to finish his career where it began.
However, the source indicates that Gigi has no shortage of offers. There are numerous proposals from abroad, including Olympiacos of Greece and two unnamed Brazilian clubs.
Moreover, Buffon has admitted that if he does not find an offer that drives him, he may retire from football.
He has even launched an academy especially for goalkeepers, and may now divert his attention in coaching youngsters there.
