Five Manchester United players, including Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, reportedly do not have to count on a new contract.
12-year long stay coming to an end
Manchester Evening News expects Jones and Tuanzebe to get some bad news. That is not surprising, because both defenders have not played for United for quite some time. Jones started only twice in the base in the last three years due to knee problems. The 31-year-old stopper has also not trained all season. Since Jones extended his contract in February 2019, he has started sixteen times in the starting line-up. The defender was already substituted at halftime five times.
Tuanzebe’s last appearance dates from two years ago, when United lost the Europa League final to Villarreal. After a long injury, he moved to Championship club Stoke City on a rental basis last winter, but that was not an unqualified success. Tuanzebe wore The Potters shirt only five times.
Three youth players
Ethan Galbraith and goalkeepers Ondrej Mastny and Charlie Wellens are the other three names that are likely to leave Manchester soon. The trio will not return to the Carrington training complex after a loan to Salford City, Portadown and Oldham Athletic respectively.
PSG is interested in Sangaré
In other transfer news, Ibrahim Sangaré is working on his last matches for PSV. The 25-year-old midfielder from Ivory Coast wants to make the step up and he has no complaints about interest. Numerous Premier League clubs have had Sangaré on their radar for some time and the Ivorian is now also in the picture at Paris Saint Germain.
The clubs that want to take over Sangaré know exactly what they have to pay. He has a clause in his contract that interested clubs can pick him up before a certain deadline this summer for €37.5 million. Although PSV seems to be sticking to this amount for the time being, it is by no means certain that clubs will also want to pay this for Sangaré. It is likely that the people of Eindhoven will start talking anyway with offers of between 25 and 30 million euros.
In any case, PSV will make a substantial profit if it sells Sangaré. The departed technical director John de Jong picked up the international from Ivory Coast three years ago at Toulouse for about nine million euros. In recent seasons, the physically powerful midfielder has developed into one of the strongholds at PSV.
There was also interest from England from numerous clubs last season. In the closing days of the summer transfer window, Chelsea reported for Sangaré, but that deal ultimately fell through. The midfielder seems to be making a choice between the Premier League and Ligue 1. Now that Paris Saint Germain is also targeting him. The interest from Paris is confirmed by the player’s entourage.
