Brighton & Hove Albion came back to draw 1-1 at West Ham United in a Premier League clash on Wednesday. In this fixture last night, stunning overhead kick by Neal Maupay cancelled out Tomas Soucek’s early goal for a deadlock. Among some other midweek Premier League football news, West Ham and Brighton tied 1-1 at the Hammers’ home, London Stadium.
The 1-1 draw stretches Brighton’s streak to nine league games without a win.
And while that leaves them seventh in the table standings with 19 points, West Ham remain fourth at 24 points.
Hammers midfielder Soucek struck in the fifth minute, guiding a deft glancing header from Pablo Fornals’ corner past Robert Sanchez. This goal gave his side the lead.
Brighton came storming back and dominated for much of the second half. But they struggled to convert their confident ball possession and slick passing into actual goal-scoring chances.
That is, until Maupay threw himself into the air to fire home the ball in the 89th minute. Tariq Lamptey sent Maupay a cross from the right for this goal to conspire.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter had to make two changes before half-time. Jeremy Sarmiento and Adam Webster both picked up injuries and Solly March and Shane Duffy had to replace them.
Despite having to reshuffle their pack, though, Brighton came storming back and Jakob Moder should have put them level.
And it was Maupay, again, who teed the goal scorer up just before the break. But Moder fired his effort into the legs of Lukasz Fabianski.
The visitors opened the second half with two more good chances for March and Lewis Dunk, but it was in vain.
Then, West Ham had another goal from a corner ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR review.
With West Ham looking to hit on the counter-attack, Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez pulled off a brace of superb saves.
He saved the Hammers with one full-length diving effort to deny Declan Rice, bringing roars of approval from traveling fans.
Brighton continued to dominate possession but struggled to convert their slick passing into goal-scoring chances.
Until Maupay again saved the day by throwing himself into the air to catch Tariq Lamptey’s cross from the right. He thus fired home a goal in the 89th minute for Brighton to at least snatch a point.
