This division of points kept Juventus at an equal distance from Atalanta, which is seven points behind in second place.
Lazio remained at minus eight with a mistake by Udinese (0: 0), so if Inter wins SPAL tomorrow, they can break out in second place, six points behind five rounds before the end.
Juventus will meet Lazio next Monday in a match that could significantly affect the outcome of the fight for Scudetto, while Sassuolo will play against Cagliari.
In this match, the Italian champions led 2:0 after just 12 minutes. The visitors then managed to save themselves from defeat, as Sassuolo attempted to win with several golden chances.
The champions opened the match in an ideal way. In the fifth minute itself, Juventus took the lead with a goal by Danilo. After a corner by Miralem Pjanić, who kicked the ball from the right side to the top of 16 meters. Right-back Danilo was left alone and scored nicely, on his 29th birthday, to give the lead to the guests.
Seven minutes later, Juventus went up by 0-2. Miralem Pjanić’s fantastic deep ball from Juventus’ half found Gonzalo Higuain, who broke out in front of Andrea Consigli and scored easily.
The champions thus seemed to be in control. However, Sassuolo was the one who played better in the first half.
After conceding two goals, Sassuolo shots started to line up in front of Wojciech Szczesny.
He saved the first two, but he couldn’t stop a goal in the 30th minute. Serbian midfielder Filip Đuričić received the ball about ten meters from Juventus’ goal after quick action by the hosts.
Muldur pulled the ball from his own half, then tried to pass to the right where the ball bounced from Alex Sandro to Caput who served Djuricic for 1-2.
Rodrigo Bentancur, too, reacted badly and practically passed the ball to the opponent.
Berardi threatened again, but the goalkeeper of the guests managed to save his shot.
Ronaldo also tried to score in the third minute of the referee’s compensation of the first half, but with no precision.
The drama began after the continuation of the match, as Sassuolo returned even more dangerous.
In the 51st minute, Domenico Berardi finally managed to score a free-kick from 20 meters diagonally. Berardi, an occasional Italian national team player and former target of Juventus, crossed the living wall and left Szczesny motionless.
However, a complete shock for the Turin team followed in the 54th minute. Once again, Berardi did everything on the right side. He threw in the opposite post where Francesco Ciccio Caputo managed to force the ball into the net in the fall, for a complete reversal of the hosts.
Nonetheless, Juventus managed to return to the game in the 64th minute. Again, from the corner, Rodrigo Bentancur scored from the right side. Alex Sandro also hit his head hard to equalize in the jump.
Home midfielder Manuel Locatelli was totally lost in the whole situation, he didn’t attack the ball or guard Sandra who scored without any problems.
Then, Sassuolo could have won in the 84th minute. Hamed Traore came out alone on Szczesny. He could have chosen where to shoot, but the Polish goalkeeper managed to read it and stop the shot.
Then he tried God, the Juventus defence managed to clear it almost from the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Bourabia threatened from a distance, the Juventus goalkeeper with a beautiful parade refused to take it into the corner.
So, the hosts led in the first half, but Juventus completely reversed the result in the second half.
