Juventus won a domestic fixture, winning yet another Serie A football match for the fifth time this season. Though a spirited Spezia side took them by surprise, they still managed to win out 2-3 away on the road. Yesterday, we saw, as the key highlights show in Serie A football news, Juventus work hard to earn three points.
Had the Bianconeri not won all three points at Stadio Alberto Picco, they would have gone five games without winning.
Already, they had had four games this 2021-22 Italian top-flight season without a win – here’s the latest update. And a fifth would mean they would be winless at the Serie A start for the first time since 1955-56.
It was Matthijs de Ligt who scored the game-winning goal to make it 3-2 after a deadlock. Thanks to him, Juventus came from behind to defeat Spezia and earn their first Serie A victory of the season.
Moise Kean’s first goal since rejoining his boyhood club from Everton put Massimiliano Allegri’s side ahead initially.
However, Spezia stormed back with goals from Emmanuel Gyasi and Janis Antiste on either side of the half-time break.
Federico Chiesa equalized with a fine goal. But, eventually, De Ligt’s goal secured a much-needed first win of the season for Juventus with just 18 minutes remaining.
Serie A Football News – Juventus Work Hard to Earn Three Points
In the match, the Bianconeri had taken the lead just before the half-hour mark. Kean, after collecting Adrien Rabiot’s knockdown, fired the ball in from 18 yards off Jeroen Zoet’s right-hand post.
However, it only took the hosts five minutes to respond and equalize to 1-1. Spezia’s Gyasi cut in from the left and fired across Wojciech Szczesny thanks to a slight deflection.
Soon after, Paulo Dybala forced Zoet to save his effort with a literal fingertip. It was one of Juve’s 11 first-half attempts, whereas Spezia could only make two, but they made it count.
The visitors fell behind four minutes after the break when Antiste jinked inside Leonardo Bonucci. He then clipped past Szczesny, after a quick counter-attack.
As Juve desperately tried to claw their way back into the game, Zoet denied Kean and Dybala.
But, Juventus applying pressure paid off in the 66th minute when Chiesa fired in a goal. First though, he superbly dodged his way ahead through the Spezia defence.
To Allegri’s relief, De Ligt then lifted some of the clouds that had begun to gather over the Turin giants. He powered past Zoet after the ball fell near him following a corner.
