Sheffield United 2-0 West Brom: Sheffield United return to the Premier League together with Burnley. The club completed its promotion mission by winning at home against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday evening. Champion Burnley was previously assured of a Premier League ticket.
Sheffield United now not dependent on play-offs: Premier League return a fact
Due to the victory over West Brom, Sheffield United can no longer be overtaken by the competition. This prevents the number two in England’s second level from having to enter the play-offs again. Last season, Sheffield United finished fifth in the Championship, but were knocked out in the play-off semi-finals by Nottingham Forest.
Sheffield United was relegated from the Premier League in the 2020/21 season as the bottom of the league, the club only scored twenty goals that season. After two years in the Championship, a return to the highest level is a fact. Sander Berge and Anel Ahmedhodzic provided the party with their goals against West Brom.
A playful joke, or a jolly offer with a serious undertone? That’s what Wrexham fans will be wondering after a post on Twitter from Rob McElhenney. The club owner has spoken to Gareth Bale.
Wrexham wants to seduce Bale: ‘A final, magical season’
We stay in the EFL but drop down a couple of tiers down the English football pyramid. Wrexham completed its fairytale last week by forcing promotion to the English Football League. After fifteen years, the club from Wales returns to League Two and this was picked up in the international media, partly due to the presence of Hollywood stars.
After the promotion, club owners McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have not sat still and eagerly followed up on a video that Bale submitted. The former attacker has been retired from football for several months and had a short time on the golf course to send in a message. He congratulated Wrexham on the promotion.
So that was picked up on by McElhenney, who suggested Bale play a round of golf. “Then I definitely won’t spend four hours trying to convince you to return for one last magical season.”
