Partly due to injuries, Thorgan Hazard’s loan spell at PSV Eindhoven has not been an unqualified success. The mercenary normally returns to Borussia Dortmund after the end of the current season. “I came here to make a few minutes, but I’ve had a bit of bad luck.”
Hazard explains reserve role at PSV Eindhoven: “I think I’ve had a bit of bad luck”
Hazard has certainly had his moments playing for PSV Eindhoven. The Belgian attacker scored in the Eredivisie match with Feyenoord and forced extra time against Ajax in the cup final. In the end, the team from Eindhoven won after penalties. “In my first game I scored, then I got injured. When I came back, the team was running well. Then it’s not easy,” Hazard revealed.
Hazard also had to settle for a substitute against Fortuna Sittard (2-1). “I came here to score minutes, but I’ve had a bit of bad luck. That’s part of the job. As a substitute I do my best. We ended up winning a prize and I came here to win some. If we come in second, I think we’ll have a pretty good season,” the 30-year-old admitted.
Contract situation
Hazard signed a six-month loan in Eindhoven last winter. Does it stop there? “Obviously it was for six months. Then I would go back to Dortmund and we would review the situation. We’ll see, I haven’t spoken to PSV Eindhoven and Dortmund yet. I’ll focus on the next two games, then there’s time to talk and I’ll make a decision. Regret? No absolutely not,” said the Belgian winger.
Just like in the Eredivisie, there are two more rounds on the program in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich leads the dance, Dortmund follows by a point. “Of course I hope they become champions. My wife and children are still there. I don’t go that way every day, but once or twice a week. Donyell Malen? He is on fire, yes. We knew he was a fantastic player, but he had to adapt to a new league and a different language. He’s doing very well, said a proud Thorgan Hazard.
