The West Ham United footballers reached the League Cup round of 16 by defeating Manchester United 0-1 at Old Trafford. Recently, in Premier League football news, United had beaten Ham 1-2, when the latter had hosted them at London Stadium. And now, West Ham exacted their revenge on Manchester United by beating them in their own home in EFL Cup.
Meanwhile, elsewhere Chelsea beat Aston Villa 4-3 with a better penalty shootout after the normal 90 minutes ended in 1-1.
In the match, Timo Werner scored for the Blues in the 54th minute, and Cameron Archer equalized ten minutes later. And later, it were Young and Nakamba’s misses that decided the winners of the penalty shootout.
Tottenham also celebrated a win based on a penalty shootout, as they defeated Wolverhampton 3-2. The match ended 2-2 after the Spurs took a 2-0 lead and the home side equalized.
Finally in the League Cup, Arsenal beat Wimbledon 3-0 and the scorers were Lacazette (11), Rowe (77), and Nketiah (80).
West Ham Exacted Their Revenge on Manchester United
But the highlight was that West Ham United beat Manchester United 0-1 away, avenging their earlier loss to the latter.
Cristiano Ronaldo did not play for United here and thus saved himself some humiliation.
Manuel Lanzini scored the only, and as it turned out, the deciding goal in the ninth minute of the match.
The guests could have celebrated more convincingly with another goal, but Andrij Jarmolenko hit the post in the 87th minute.
