Erik ten Hag is not concerned with winning the quad with Manchester United. That is what the Dutch coach says in the run-up to the squatter against Liverpool.
Last weekend, United won its first prize in almost six years with the League Cup. That trophy has raised the enthusiasm of The Red Devils supporters to great heights. In the red part of Manchester, secretly there are already whispers about a possible quadruple: four prizes in one season. After all, United is also in the race for the national title, the FA Cup and the Europa League.
Sky Sports asked Ten Hag on Thursday whether it is also a lot about this internally. “No, we’re not talking about that. We are talking about the next match, which is a very big one,” Ten Hag replied. “It’s a very nice game and we’re really looking forward to playing it,” the manager assured.
“The quadruple, that’s for the dreamers! It’s something for the fans. That’s nice, but that’s not for us to be involved with. The players know that too. They have so much experience, they will not be distracted by such dreams, however wonderful. You may dream about it, but we won’t,” he adds.
Max Verstappen received congratulations from Erik ten Hag
The season in Formula 1 starts on Sunday with the Bahrain Grand Prix. In the run-up to the first race, reigning world champion Max Verstappen received congratulations from Manchester.
In conversation with Sky Sports, Erik ten Hag discussed Verstappen’s performance. The manager of Manchester United has no tips for his compatriot. “Cause he’s done a great job. He is not only a good driver, but also a great personality. A real winner. He knows how to win and I think he will do that again this year. He’s so consistent… And young, but also experienced,” Ten Hag added.
“We are proud of him in the Netherlands and I wish him the best for the new season,” continued Ten Hag, who had another request for Verstappen. “Bring the World Cup back to the Netherlands!” Incidentally, Verstappen is no longer the only Dutchman in Formula 1 this season. Nyck de Vries signed with AlphaTauri and represents his first full year in the royal class.
