Newly appointed Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez would like to see Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara in his squad. At the same time, the manager has approved of targeting Dani Alves, his former Barcelona teammate, too. So, with it being most likely in January, Xavi may reunite with Thiago Alcantara and Dani Alves at Barcelona.
How will Barcelona fund these stars’ football transfers to Camp Nou, though? That’s simple, as our football news covers – via player sales in the winter transfer window and the window after that.
Xavi May Reunite with Thiago Alcantara and Dani Alves at Barcelona
New head coach Xavi is eyeing a reunion with Thiago Alcantara, who is a midfielder with Liverpool currently, at Barcelona.
According to journalist Pedro Almeida, the Blaugrana manager has even talked to the club’s chairman Joan Laporta about it.
To remind you of the Barça academy graduate’s history, Thiago Alcantara joined Bayern Munich back in 2013.
After 7 years in Germany, with a Champions League gold under his belt, he moved to Liverpool in 2020.
This season, however, Thiago Alcantara has only made 7 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Dani Alves is also likely to re-join Barcelona following Xavi Hernandez’s appointment as a new manager, claims Diario Sport.
According to the source, Xavi said ‘yes’ to the Brazilian defender’s arrival. The former Barcelona player and current Catalan coach wants him to be part of the new era at the club.
Previous reports indicated that 38-year-old Alves himself is keen on a move to the Catalan club. In fact, he wants to retire where he played most of the time – Dani represented Barça between 2008 and 2016.
Parting ways with Sao Paolo over wage dispute back in September, Dani Alves has been a free agent ever since.
