2023 Masters: Harrison Crowe of Australia defeats Bo Jin of China by one stroke to win the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, earning him a spot in the 2023 Masters and Open Championships. The 21-year-old can now look forward to teeing it up at August National in April and Royal Liverpool in July.
Harrison Crowe of Australia has qualified for The Masters and The Open Championship in 2023 after overcoming a final-round stutter to win the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Thailand by one stroke.
The 21-year-old had a two-stroke advantage after the third round, but after losing three shots on his first nine holes on Sunday, he trailed China’s Bo Jin by three strokes.
But between holes 11 and 15, Crowe made four birdies, and at hole 17, Jin double-bogeyed after finding the water, Crowe took the lead.
Crowe made a par on his final hole to finish at 13 under par and secure his spot in the majors at Royal Liverpool in July and Augusta National in April.
“I don’t believe it’s really hit in yet, but it feels wonderful right now,” remarked Crowe. Goosebumps, what an amazing experience.
“I’m quite proud of myself and I came here this week with a point to make. I persevered. It required a lot of digging.
With Scottie Scheffler, the reigning Masters champion, and Cameron Smith, a fellow countryman who won the Open Championship in 2022, Crowe will now be in those fields.
