At the first Hero Cup in Abu Dhabi, continental Europe outperformed Great Britain and Ireland 14.5–10.5 in the Sunday singles.
At Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Francesco Molinari’s team was led by two points going into the final day of the three-day competition, which was designed to provide players with more teamwork practice before potential future participation in Europe’s Ryder Cup team.
When Molinari overcame Shane Lowry 3&2 to claim the opening point in the Sunday singles, Adrian Meronk had to make the winning putt to defeat Englishman Callum Shinkwin by a single stroke.
