Pebble Beach: At the halfway point of his final round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Justin Rose leads by two shots with a Monday finish in sight.
After beginning his fourth round with a bogey, Rose, who is attempting to win on the PGA Tour for the first time since the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open, sits at 15 under par.
On Monday, the 42-year-old will start the round at Pebble Beach’s 10th fairway.
After Saturday’s play was hampered by heavy winds, the event’s organisers decided to extend it. As a result, the Pro-Am section of the competition, which featured former Wales footballer Gareth Bale and was won by NFL star Aaron Rodgers, was reduced to 54 holes.
Rosalyn said: “I thought I played shakily, so I was pleased with the shots I was able to make when they were needed. I put a lot of effort into it and gained a lot.
“The names on the bag or who I am don’t matter to the folks out here. They’re here to perform a task. I have to come out and perform my work, keep it clean, and take risks because the standard is so deep and strong.
“There isn’t much time left for someone to make that huge move, but I’m expecting someone to do it since they have nothing to lose.”
Rose scored a six-under-par 65 to end his third round at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club, moving him to 12 under overall and giving him a one-shot lead going into the final round.
The American trio of Denny McCarthy, Peter Malnati, and Brendon Todd, who finished in a tie for second place at the 2013 US Open, were his closest competitors and each had a score of 13 under par.
Malnati, who held the lead following round two, has completed nine holes, Todd 12, and McCarthy 15.
Seamus Power of Ireland is tied for 21st on eight under.
