Phoenix Open: After round two of the WM Phoenix Open in Arizona, Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, and Adam Hadwin are in the lead by two strokes, with Rory McIlroy eight shots back.
Following a flawless seven-under 64 on Friday, American Scottie Scheffler improved upon his opening round score of 68 to enter the weekend with the best score of 10 under par.

After two consecutive rounds of 66, Canadian Hadwin and Spaniard Jon Rahm are tied for first place on eight under heading into round three.
At the end of the competition, Scheffler and Rahm may both pass McIlroy for the top spot in the world.
The Northern Irishman played significantly better on Friday after shooting a first-round 73, making five birdies in his opening 13 holes before play was stopped at 6.07 p.m. local time due to darkness. On Saturday, when play got underway again, McIlroy was unable to continue where he left off and was forced to make do with four pars and a bogey over his final five holes.
Three birdies on the back nine, which he played first, and four on the front nine made up Scheffler’s bogey-free round.
In this area, according to Scheffler, “the golf course can kind of open up for you when you hit fairways and you’re hitting it well.”
“But because there is desert around, trouble can lurk in almost every hole, the opposite can happen quickly. There are numerous water-filled holes as well.
“You have to take advantage of it like I did today when you’re hitting it well. As the week progresses, hopefully, I’ll maintain placing the ball in the right spot.”

Rahm bogeyed his sole hole of the day, the par-four 11th, to open the day, but he swiftly recovered to record a 66.
I’m hitting the ball well out there, and I’m going to keep that in mind, Rahm said. “I have very little control over where they wind up,”
