Portugal Masters: With a flawless final-round 63, Jordan Smith won the Portugal Masters by three strokes and finished the competition with an astounding 30-under-par total.
The Englishman moved into the top 10 on the DP World Tour rankings and won his first tournament since the Porsche European Open in 2017 with an eagle and six birdies on Sunday.
Smith not only made some huge putts and put on an amazing show of ball striking, but he also saved par at the 11th hole after running into problems with a tree.
Gavin Green, who placed second on 27 under par thanks to his final-round 64, barely made a mistake, but he was powerless to stop Smith.
“It’s just good to finally have that second win,” a visibly moved Smith stated following his victory.
I’m really incredibly pleased with my performance this year.
Eddie Pepperell was in fourth position, one shot ahead of Tapio Pulkkanen, who finished third and five strokes behind Green.
Hurly Long and Sebastian Heisele, a German team, tied for fifth place on 19 under, with Heisele retiring on a high note.
Despite Renato Paratore’s best efforts, who lost out on keeping his card by one position despite his breath-taking 58-foot birdie on the last, everyone who began the week in the top 117 on the standings managed to stay there.
