Ras Al Khaimah Championship: In the second round of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship on the DP World Tour in the United Arab Emirates, Scotland’s David Law put up an excellent performance to take a share of the lead.
An eagle and six birdies lifted Law to 11 under alongside Adrian Meronk and Rasmus Hojgaard as he completed his final five holes in five under to record a 64 at Al Hamra Golf Club.
The world No. 274 reached the halfway point in 33 after making three birdies in a six-hole stretch starting at the third. He then shot an eight-foot eagle at the par-five 14th to move up the leaderboard, and three more birdies allowed him to tie his score from the same round of the previous year’s competition.

It’s incredibly satisfying, said Law. “Just practised patience. For the first 12 holes I played decently, but I didn’t really hole too many shots. However, the last six holes I put exceptionally well, which made a significant difference. (For the weekend) I’m eager.”
After making six birdies in his first 14 holes, Hojgaard, whose twin brother Nicolai won the competition last year, momentarily reached 12 under. However, he had to settle for a share of the lead after making a bogey at the 16th due to an errant tee-shot.
The Hojgaard twins would become the first to win the same tournament on the DP World Tour if the 21-year-old Dane wins, while Meronk completes the top three after making no bogeys in his 65 thanks to five birdies in a span of six holes.
Hojgaard said, “I didn’t drive the ball very well, put myself constantly in the rough and the sand but managed to putt well today and salvaged some excellent pars out there. Even if there is still a lot of golf to be played, it would be awesome to make some history.”
Englishman Dale Whitnell had the best round of the day, shooting nine birdies in a flawless 63 to tie for second position with fellow countryman Daniel Gavins, overnight leader Ryo Hisatsune, and Wil Besseling, with Matthew Baldwin two shots back in eighth.
After shooting a second-round 66, defending champion Nicolai Hojgaard sits on seven under par and among the 18 players within four strokes or closer of the lead at the halfway point. Ryan Fox, the highest-ranked player in the field, fell six shots down after shooting a second-round 72.
