Zozo Championship: At the Zozo Championship, American Keegan Bradley won for the first time on the PGA Tour in four years while Rickie Fowler’s championship drought continued.
Bradley, who hadn’t won since the 2018 BMW Championship, scored a two-under 68 to finish the tournament on 15 under par and collect over $2 million.
At the Narashino Country Club in Japan, overnight leader Fowler and Andrew Putnam both ended on 14 under after level rounds of 70 and 68, respectively.
Nearly four years have passed since Fowler won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February 2019, the most recent of his five PGA Tour victories.
Going into the final round, the 33-year-old was two strokes ahead of Bradley and one stroke ahead of Putnam. The trio also led the field at various points on Sunday.
Following a 20-foot birdie putt at the 11th, Bradley pushed two ahead until Putnam caught up to his countryman at the 16th.
The 2011 PGA champion Bradley, though, reclaimed a two-stroke lead at the par-3 17th hole when he made a birdie and Putnam made a bogey.
Bradley made par to win the fifth PGA Tour championship despite Putnam’s birdie on the last hole.
Things aren’t always simple for me, but the birdie on the 17th was one of the best holes of my life, Bradley remarked after the round.
“I’m extremely proud to win this tournament. I played in the final group here when Tiger Woods won here [in 2019]. This is so amazing.”
After bogeying the 15th hole and missing a birdie opportunity at the next with another subpar putt, Fowler’s chances of winning on the PGA Tour for the sixth time diminished.
He did, however, make a birdie on the 18th hole to tie Putnam for second place, one shot ahead of Emiliano Grillo (13 under), and two shots ahead of Viktor Hovland, Sahith Theegala, and Hayden Buckley (12 under).
