Racing News: Following his two-month riding suspension for elbowing Rossa Ryan, a rival jockey, off of the saddle, Christophe Soumillon acknowledges that he committed a “bad error.”
In a spectacular incident during the Group Three Thomas Bryon Stakes at Saint-Cloud on Friday, Soumillon intentionally collided with Ryan while riding 15/2 shot Syros as the two pursued eventual victor Ralph Beckett’s, Captain Wierzba. Continuous.

After the race, Soumillon exclusively told Sky Sports Racing: “I experienced a little bit of pressure from Rossa on my outside as I tried to preserve a better position behind Ryan [Moore, on Continuous].”
“To let him know that I wasn’t going inside, I pressed my elbow on him. I immediately realised my error, and I’m quite sorry for what happened because I detest seeing things like this.
“I sincerely apologise to everyone. Rossa is alright, which is great, but I’m quite sorry because I should not have acted in this manner.
Syros was eliminated from the competition after placing fifth among the final five competitors.
