The 21-year-old Scottish sprinter’s bronze was ParalympicsGB’s first athletics medal of the Tokyo Paralympics; the 21-year-old finished third in the event for the second consecutive Games in a season’s best 14.18 seconds.
Maria Lyle, a Scottish sprinter, won bronze in the women’s T35 100m final, giving ParalympicsGB its first athletics medal of the Tokyo Games.
The 21-year-old set a season’s best time of 14.18 seconds to finish third in the event for the second time in a row.
Xia Zhou of China won gold in 13 seconds on the first day of track action in Japan, with Australian Isis Holt taking silver, 0.13 seconds behind.
Lyle, who has cerebral palsy, battled mental illness in Rio five years ago but still managed to win a silver and two bronze medals.
“For me, it was all about getting out there and having fun. I’m really happy to be able to make the most of the time I have and to enjoy the experience “she stated
“To compete for gold and silver was always going to be difficult, so I had to stick to my own race strategy. I wasn’t expecting it to take so long.

“Because the other two girls [Zhou and Holt] were so far ahead of me, it was difficult to tell where I was, but I just focused on my race.
“I know I seized up a little from my heat, so I knew I needed to relax more.”
After placing fourth in the heats in a season-best 11.17 seconds, Ola Abidogun was unable to qualify for the men’s T47 100m final.
“I’m heartbroken because I’m two-hundredths of a spot in the final,” he added. “I can take that away from me since it’s a season’s best.” But it’s nowhere near my personal best.
“I’ve had a terrible 18 months; I recently suffered an ankle injury, which is a sprinter’s misfortune.” So it’s good to be able to run again, especially since I was still having trouble in July. But I know I can contribute more and that I should have made it to the end.”
