Sweden Called Up Ibrahimovic to Face Georgia and Spain in the World Cup
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has enjoyed a call-up for two of Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers, against Georgia and Spain.
And in fact, according to the Corriere dello Sport, Ibra is targeting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Indeed, the 40-year-old Swede has set his sights on competing in this upcoming World Cup, perhaps the last quadrennial one.
To be fit for the competition in November and December 2022, though, he will require a contract extension with Milan.
And for how long, at a minimum, you ask? He will need a renewal deal with Milan lasting until June 2023 at least.
Ibrahimovic missed UEFA Euro 2020 due to a knee injury, but he is back in the lineup for Sweden. He may thus play in their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain on November 11 and 14, respectively.
Before his recall in March, he had been out of the running for five years.
