Australian Open: With a 7-6 (10-8) 4-6 6-1 victory over Tamara Zidansek, Ons Jabeur advanced to the second round of the Australian Open.
The Slovenian was defeated by World No. 2 Jabeur, who struggled through the first set before dropping the second. Jabeur won the final six games.
“The second set was really frustrating for me, but I’m pleased I let it out. I recently told myself to take the second spot in the world and win this game,” said Jabeur.

Fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka defeated Tereza Martincova with ease in her opening match of the competition, winning 6-1 6-4.
The American Shelby Rogers, who defeated qualifier Arianne Hartono 6-4 6-3, will be the next opponent the Belarusian.
Camila Giorgi also spent the least amount of time on Court Six. She blasted into the second round in just 56 minutes by humiliating Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-0, 6-1.
Giorgi denies utilising a phoney Covid-19 travel document.
Giorgi has refuted allegations that he obtained a fake Covid-19 vaccination record in order to participate in competitions.
The 31-year-old was cited by a doctor, Daniela Grillone, as one of the patients who sought out forged papers, according to Italian media last month.
Giorgi asserted that she had done nothing wrong when she addressed the accusations for the first time.
“The doctor has been under investigation. And she has run into legal issues several times this year,” according to Giorgi, who is rated 70th.
“I received my vaccinations at various locations. So she is the one in jeopardy. Not me. As a result, I’m at peace.
“She [stated] my name, of course, but she gave the names of more than 300 people.”
For entry in 2021 and 2022, players from a number of tennis-related nations, notably Australia and the USA, had to be immunised.
Giorgi acknowledged that Grillone had given her one of her immunisations and that she had used the doctor’s prescription paper.
She argued that it was not her intention to find fake documents, adding “No, not at all.”
