Australian Open: After a remarkable run at the Australian Open in 2023, where he won a record-tying ten titles and earned his 22nd Grand Slam, Novak Djokovic has given himself some time off the court. This includes being reinstated as the World No. 1 and winning the tournament ten times in a row. Together with Rafael Nadal, the Serb’s bitter rival, they tied the men’s record.
In preparation for his forthcoming tennis match at the 2023 Dubai Open, where he will be seeking a sixth tournament victory, Djokovic has now started his rehabilitation and training.
The World No. 1 shared a photo of himself performing water gymnastics on social media, giving followers and fans an inside view into his off-day training regimen.
Water gymnastics is renowned for building muscle and assisting with injury recovery. The Serb, who recently sustained a left hamstring injury, has used this training method before in his regimen.
A video of the 22-time Slam champion performing water gymnastics to strengthen his muscles and loosen up his joints was also previously posted.
“The programme features water gymnastics. strengthening the muscles and releasing the joints,” He posted something on social media.
Novak Djokovic is requesting a waiver so he can compete in the Miami Open and Indian Wells Masters in 2023.
If his hamstring injury from Australia heals, Novak Djokovic is anticipated to compete in the 2023 Dubai Open in late February.
Due to his anti-vaccination stance, the Serb still faces a travel ban from the US and is predicted to miss two Masters events: the Indian Wells Masters (March 8–19) and the Miami Open. As a result, his chances of enjoying an eventful March are dim (March 22- April 02).
While the US vaccination requirement for visitors to the US is anticipated to be lifted starting in May 2023, Djokovic, who has already been forced to skip the Indian Wells Masters (where he is a five-time champion) and the Miami Open in 2022, is reportedly looking for a special exception.
“Since the USA still doesn’t permit unvaccinated foreigners to enter the nation, Novak needs a special permit to enter,” according to Djordje. “There are still a few days before the decision; we are hoping for a favourable result.”
The younger sibling also voiced his frustration with the rigid regulations in the US, which persist despite other countries’ loosened regulations.
“Given that we have witnessed major sporting events with unvaccinated athletes all over the world,” Djordje continued, “[It] is astounding.”
