French Open: In the first round of the French Open at Roland Garros, Emma Raducanu was assigned to a qualifier.
The 19-year-old British player is seeded 12th in the clay-court Grand Slam for the first time at the senior level.
Raducanu recently had a back ailment and had to withdraw from her first-round match against Bianca Andreescu at the Italian Open.
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were drawn in the same quadrant of the men’s draw and may face each other in the last eight. In the top half of the draw, Alexander Zverev joins them.
For the first time in three years, the Grand Slam will be at full capacity. The competition begins on Sunday, with the victors being crowned on June 4 and 5.
Swiatek receives a favourable start; Osaka will face Anisimova
Iga Swiatek, who won the Italian Open for the fifth time in a row and the French Open in 2020, has a qualifier in the first round. Dayana Yastremska or Alison Riske will then face her.
In the first round, the second seed, defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, will face Diane Parry of France. Due to an elbow ailment, Krejcikova is poised to return to the tennis court for the first time since February.
Bianca Andreescu and Naomi Osaka are also unseeded at this Grand Slam, with Andreescu having a stronger draw than Osaka.

Harriet Dart of the United Kingdom will face former quarter-finalist, Martina Trevisan, while Heather Watson will face Elsa Jacquemot, a 19-year-old French wildcard.
The top half of the men’s draw stacked
The top half of the men’s draw includes world No. 1 Djokovic, 13-time French Open champion Nadal, Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev.
Seed number four The other half includes Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, and Andrey Rublev.
Djokovic will begin his campaign against Yoshihito Nishioka, while Nadal will face Jordan Thompson of Australia. In the first round, Alcaraz was assigned to a qualifier.

The two British men competing at Roland Garros are Cameron Norrie and Dan Evans.
Norrie will face a French wildcard in the first round. Manuel Guinard and Evans will face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, who is ranked No. 44 in the world.
Andy Murray has decided to skip the Slam in order to focus on his preparations for the Wimbledon Championships.
Murray entered the Madrid Open as a wildcard and won matches over Dominic Thiem and Denis Shapovalov before having to withdraw from a match against Djokovic due to food poisoning.
