Korea Open: In Seoul, the No. 1 seed from Great Britain defeated Kaichi Uchida in straight sets. Jenson Brooksby, an American, was his opponent for today.
The Korea Open has been postponed owing to the illness of British number one Cameron Norrie.
After defeating Japan’s Kaichi Uchida 6-2, 6-2 in the previous round, Norrie was scheduled to play American Jenson Brooksby in the quarterfinals on Friday. However, the 27-year-old said he was jet-lagged and withdrew from the match.
Brooksby received a walkover into the semifinals after Norrie withdrew, the ATP confirmed to Sky Sports News.
In order to qualify for the ATP finals in Turin in November, Norrie, the No. 8 player in the world, must keep his position in the top eight.
He has two victories under his belt this year, advanced to Wimbledon’s semifinals, and cracked the top 10 for the first time in his career.
Norrie is the third-seeded player to pull out of the Korea Open after third seed Taylor Fritz and sixth seed Borna Coric on Monday and Monday, respectively.
He is anticipated to participate in the Japan Open, which starts on October 3 in Tokyo.
Due to Norrie’s withdrawal, Brooksby will now face Denis Shapovalov of Canada on Saturday in the semifinals.
