NBA players: NBA fanatic Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has talked to some basketball stars over the years. When the two hoop competitors come together, the charisma and versatility of the WWE legend frequently shine through.
Johnson went from being an unknown to one of the biggest and most lucrative superstars in the entertainment industry. He is undoubtedly on par with the basketball players who he has had the opportunity to work with in terms of superstardom.
The Rock is the ring name of Dwayne Douglas Johnson, an American actor, producer, musician, and professional wrestler. Both his father, Rocky Johnson, and his grandfather, Peter Maivia, are professional wrestlers. Johnson, who is currently under contract with WWE on a part-time basis, rose to prominence in the public eye during the World Wrestling Federation’s (WWF’s) Attitude Era from 1996 to 2004. He was the first third-generation wrestler in the organization’s history.
Here are the top 5 NBA players with that Dwayne Johnson has collaborated.
1) Steph Curry
Steph Curry, a two-time NBA MVP, displayed his acting skills in HBO’s Ballers. He appeared as a special guest on one of the episodes of the show with Dwayne Johnson. Spencer Strasmore, a former athlete who now serves as the manager of Anderson Financial Management, was portrayed by “The Rock.”
In his role as himself, Steph Curry spoke with Strasmore about issues he intended to address during his NBA career. In spite of apparent barriers put in place to prevent it, Strasmore used all of his charms to win Curry over as a client. The chemistry between the two Under Armour endorsers was seething despite the absence of trash-talking. Steph Curry tops this ranking because he is the most well-known NBA player after LeBron James.
2) Shaquille O’Neal
John Cena and Shaquille O’Neal are great friends. During Wrestlemania 27, Dwayne Johnson and Cena got into a made-for-TV brawl that all but ensured Johnson’s return to the WWE after his current retirement.
The former NBA player supported the current WWE champion when the match between Cena and “The Rock” was announced at WrestleMania 28.
“Looking forward to seeing my man @JohnCena smacketh down @therock today at #wrestlemania in Miami. That guy is Shaqqed. #”
This was the opening salvo in a barrage of blows directed at “The People’s Champ.”
John Cena was defeated by “The Rock,” but Shaq and Johnson failed to lip-smack.
3) Charles Barkley
Years ago, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley challenged each other to a weightlifting competition. As the competition heated up, they continued to bench press 205, 225, and 315 pounds. When the weight reached 405 lbs, a spotter became absolutely necessary.
Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg served as the NBA stars’ spotters. The first will support Shaquille O’Neal, while the second will support Charles Barkley. The previous three weight categories were easily lifted by both former NBA players. At the 405-pound barrier, Shaq fell short. Shaq was fortunate to have Dwayne Johnson on his side to support him.
Almost everyone in the gym was shocked when the out-of-shape “Chuck” out-lifted Shaq. “The Rock” was in awe of what he was witnessing as Mark Wahlberg maintained a poker look. The filmmakers then revealed that “Chuck’s” weights were dummies after Barkley was crowned the winner. Even the losing team, which featured Shaquille O’Neal and Dwayne Johnson, enjoyed a good chuckle.
4) Giannis Antetokounmpo
The pre-game wrestling routines of Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks teammates are well known. They’ve made some of the funniest and most interesting attempts to get inside Dwayne Johnson’s head.
The interaction between “The Rock” and “The Greek Freak” didn’t take very long. Antetokounmpo and Johnson worked out together the year before the Bucks won the 2020 NBA title. Then immediately, the jovial Greek basketball superstar tweeted:
“I smell what the Rock is cooking.”
And when asked what happens in a wrestling match with “The Rock,” Antetokounmpo replied:
“I’d kill him.”
It was clear that the two-time NBA MVP was joking, which prompted Dwayne Johnson to respond to the basketball player:
“Love this dude. It’s why he’s @NBA beast & the Bucks are #1 in the E.
But you don’t want this smoke, cuz I will slap your lips off into next week, son.
5) Kevin Durant
Durant reportedly pushed for the dismissal of general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash after demanding to be traded in the offseason. It would be an understatement to say that the recent seasons have been disorganised and rife with problems. It’s practically a given that the Brooklyn Nets and Kevin Durant will have a successful season because of Dwayne Johnson’s promotion of them. This season’s “Black Adam” voice-over to promote the Nets’ campaign is chillingly hot:
“In this world, there are heroes and there are villains. Last year as the world focused on your failures, who saw friends become foes and others cement their place in history without you, questions from those watching as your legacy became riddled with doubt.
“But in order to reach your pinnacle once again, it’s time to make a choice. You can be the destroyer of this league, or you can be its savior.”
