O2 Victory: After enhancing her developing status as one of Britain’s most intriguing talents, Caroline Dubois acknowledges that she would like a future bout with Mikaela Mayer.
On the Shields vs. Marshall undercard on Saturday night, the 21-year-old stopped Milena Koleva in the fifth round to improve to 4-1 with 3 knockouts.
Dubois feels it would be “wonderful” to share the ring with American superstar Mayer. Mayer competed on the all-female show and lost by a split decision to Alycia Baumgardner in a world title unification match.
“To be honest, that would be incredible since Mikaela is someone I admire. She was among the first, from the Olympics, and a standout amateur, and I’ve followed her career since it began “Telling Ringside Toe2Toe, Dubois.
“I was a novice, so I looked up to her. I was watching every one of her fights because there weren’t any great pros out there that were dominating. I would love to fight her if she climbs up to 135 pounds.”
Several interesting fighters, including fellow Olympians Lauren Price and Karriss Artingstall, competed alongside Dubois on the historic card.
“It was a crazy occasion, and I am so grateful to have been a part of it. I am buzzing. Sky supported their belief in us “She spoke.
“Since I was backstage, I was only paying attention to the fight, but that [her performance] is unquestionably the cherry on top. I later understand how significant the occasion genuinely was and how much my performance improved me as a fighter.
“The ring walk was absurd, and the audience couldn’t stop clapping. The kindness and support they showed me completely overwhelmed me. I was attempting to concentrate behind the scenes so I could make it look like any other spar.
