Boxing Live: Frazer Clarke defeated Mariusz Wach in 10 rounds for the first time in his professional career, while Caroline Dubois was also a shutout victory on Friday night at York Hall.
The Olympic bronze medalist cruised to a convincing victory against the highly experienced Pole, manipulating the body to break Wach down.
Clarke pounced on Wach with head blows, building up combinations and striking with sharp right crosses to the head, but the former world championship contender also put Clarke’s chin to the test with the odd right of his own.
Clarke had to run the entire distance, but he was always in command, even when he began to feel the pace. He won every round to win the fight 100-90 on the scorecards. But he did learn something in there.
Clarke boxed well in his eighth professional fight. He challenged Wach’s body early on with a pair of crosses and quadrupled his jab, demonstrating good technique.
He wanted to pulverise Wach, but the Pole resisted. Wach lured Clarke into clinches as the rounds proceeded, restraining his attempts.
The Burton man continued to shoot well, sending in clean right crosses, but he needed to find a second wind to finish the last rounds well.
“I think I started off pretty well,” he added. “It’s extremely hot in here, and I’m completely exhausted.
“There are many things I did correctly, and many things I did incorrectly.
“I definitely can be better,” he continued. Those ten rounds are all really distinct.
“[Wach], he’s a difficult man to shift.”
Dominant Dubois dazzles once more.
Caroline Dubois demonstrated her tremendous potential with a 3-0 victory over Yanina Lescano.
Dubois knocked out the Argentine in the fifth round. Lescano, a world-ranked opponent, hid behind her defence in the last rounds but still landed several powerful punches.
While Lescano was desperate not to lose a second time, Dubois prevailed by a score of 80-71.
