Heavyweight Title Contender: Following his recent victory over Jerry Forrest, promoter Bob Arum predicts that Jared Anderson will become a “true top contender” for the world heavyweight championship.
This year, Anderson has been the most promising heavyweight prospect in America. He’s anticipated to make the transition into the elite level in 2023.
Prior to this month, he boxed, taking on Forrest, a gatekeeper who had fought Carlos Takam and Kubrat Pulev for 10 rounds and drawn with Michael Hunter and Zhilei Zhang.
When Forrest clipped him early on, Toledo’s Anderson destroyed him in just two rounds by launching an unrelenting barrage of blows.
Anderson, who is only 23 years old, is prepared to advance.
2023 will be a significant year for Jared, according to his promoter Arum. He has progressed. He has advanced from being a potential to a contender, or at least someone who could contend. I believe that Jared Anderson will emerge as a legitimate heavyweight title contender in ’23.
“I believe the child to be incredibly, incredibly talented. He will definitely shine next year, in my opinion.
Tyson Fury, the WBC champion, and Oleksandr Usyk, the WBA, IBF, and WBO champion, have ‘agreed’ to a battle for the undisputed championship next year.
As Anderson works to ensure his own chance at becoming a world champion, it might be difficult to find opponents who can compete with him.
Money always finds a solution, according to Arum. “I predict that many guys will put Jared to the test.
“So far, I’ve been so happy with his growth and his career that I think he’s done exceptionally well,” he said.
Numerous top boxers, including Keyshawn Davis and Shakur Stevenson, have been set up by Arum’s promotional business for significant contests the following year.
“You must do that because once men reach the top, you must recruit the following group. In my opinion, Top Rank has the best pool of emerging talent in boxing. They have my utmost admiration. The children you highlighted, as well as others, are wonderful,” added the seasoned promoter. Xander Zayas is a rising rock star in his own right.
“I’m excited to see how these guys progress in the future. Since you saw their first professional fight and have watched them grow, you almost feel paternal toward them. You have a genuine interest in their professional success.”
He would like to see Anderson-style fighters participate in the UK. “You must transport them to the UK. We want to promote these athletes in the UK because there is such a large market there, just as we have always sought to promote British fighters in the United States,” added Arum.
“The UK is quickly growing into a huge, huge market for boxing. We will move them over there without a doubt because it has always been enormous and is now even bigger.”
