Boxing News: In her subsequent fight, Savannah Marshall might face Claressa Shields again or take on Franchon Crews Dezurn for the undisputed super-middleweight title.
In October, Marshall and Shields engaged in a spectacular fight for the undisputed middleweight championship.
Marshall, though, blames her boxing style for the loss and is confident that the outcome of a rematch would be different.
“I did make a significant wager on the strategies. She had never done it before, so I decided to move ahead and push her back,” Marshall told Sky Sports.
“It was a risk to continue in that manner because, based on her prior battles, she had never been forced to the back. She often quits after around four rounds.”
Educator Peter Fury chuckled, “100% got the blame.”
She said with a smile: “For me, it’s a special link you have with your coach. He was probably the most loathed man in the world for me at one point.
“It falls under that category. Peter is simply human, just as I am, so I can’t really blame him.”
“Since the beginning, I have trusted Peter, thus I have no grudges towards him.”
“We collaborate as a team,” she added. That simply never went as expected. I’m completely and utterly upset. If I were to win, my life might be completely different.
“It’s a funny situation because, even though I lost, my stock has increased as a result of the press after losing.”
Marshall is certain that she can win a rematch using alternative strategies.
Regarding the first battle, she claimed that a draw might have been possible. “In my opinion, the game was closer than the scores indicated.”
“Only she and I actually know how that argument ended. who is aware of what shots are hitting, what shots are missing, and which shots cause pain? She is aware that was near.
There were occasions when I could see she was in trouble, Marshall added. “Even during the fight, there were instances when I accidentally hit her with shots that I wasn’t actually aiming for.
“I do think I can outbox Claressa if I use my technique rather than my bulk and might.”
Nevertheless, Marshall has other options after that. Franchon Crews Dezurn, the undisputed super-middleweight champion, has been requesting a matchup with the British fighter.
“Before the Claressa bout, an offer was offered to her, but she didn’t take it,” according to Marshall.
“She now understands that I am the cash cow after watching what occurred with Claressa and me at the O2 and how it was attended, how many people watched, and how people responded.
“Now this is why she wants a piece.”
