The historic all-women boxing programme had the most audience for a live women’s sport event ever with more than two million viewers tuning in.
In one of the best matches of the year thus far, Shields defeated Marshall to claim the title of undisputed middleweight world champion. It was the first all-female boxing event to be broadcast on television in the UK and Ireland, and it served as the main event of an illustrious programme put on by Sky Sports and promoter BOXXER.
Shields won by unanimous decision to unify all four of the main middleweight belts and end a historic night in front of a peak audience of over a million.
Some of the most exciting young boxers from the UK, including Olympic gold medalist Lauren Price, Olympic bronze medalist Karriss Artingstall, and Tokyo Olympian Caroline Dubois, competed in the Mikaela Mayer vs. Alycia Baumgardner world title match, which was also featured on the broadcast.

A sell-out crowd filled The O2 Arena in addition to those watching on television and online, highlighting the expansion of women’s sports. Women purchased 35% of the tickets, which is significantly more than usual, and watched approximately 40% of the fight night on Sky Sports at home, which is significantly more than usual.
