Chandika Hathurusingha, a former Sri Lankan cricketer and head coach, is about to be named the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team. However, there hasn’t been a formal update from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Chandika Hathurusingha is presently the New South Wales cricket team’s assistant coach in the national competition in Australia. Additionally, Cricket New South Wales issued an official statement announcing Hathurusingha’s decision to part ways with them.
Bangladesh has already been the subject of Chandika Hathurusingha’s work.
Notably, the 54-year-old will be “returning” to Bangladesh because he previously collaborated with the group from 2014 to 2017. The BCB President Nazmul Hassan had earlier stated in a statement on January 30, 2023, that the next head coach, who would succeed Russell Domingo, will be chosen between February 18 and 20. ESPNCricinfo reports that Hathurasingha would be reinstated in the position, despite the absence of a name.
“There will be a coach. You’ll see, however, I’m not sure if it’s Hathuru or someone else, and neither has the BCB. He will undoubtedly be there before the England series, which begins on March 1. I won’t reveal who it is. He will arrive between February 18 and 20,” As stated by Hassan.
Michael Klinger, the director of male cricket for NSW, commended Chandika Hathurusingha for his assistance to the group throughout his tenure. However, as evidenced by their positions at the bottom of the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup standings, the team didn’t play as well as anticipated.
“We are sorry to see Chandi go because he has given so much to Cricket NSW, the Blues, and Sydney Thunder over the past few years.
